Chronos-Swimmer

06/07/2023

Chronos-Swimmer installation by Juli Susin with a film made in collaboration with Raisa Aid, music composed by Jeanne Susin. Curated by matali crasset for Nouveau Printemps de Toulouse, Musée des Abattoirs. 2 juin – 12 novembre, 2023.

Friday, June 2 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Abattoirs: Jeanne Susin and Myrtille Hetzel play Chronos-Swimmer: score for prepared piano and cello.

The installation is composed of two permeable spaces: the virtual dimension which gives access to the holographic reservoir of memory, and the objective domain of the exhibition hall. In the first space is presented a film made in collaboration with Raisa Aid (Paraguay). The intro sequence and editing were done by Mirron Mitzkewich.

Chronos-Swimmer investigates the enigma of regeneration in an unstable ecosystem where the rules linking time and space are broken. The music of Jeanne Susin imprints the movement on the passage from the threshold between the dimensions to the elements of all kinds, which materialize in the “boarding area”. There are “composite” works with ceramics that function as safety resistors, accompanied by photographs and objects traversed by a sulfur-yellow luminescence.

The title of the installation is inspired by Jeanne Susin’s score written in 2018, for prepared piano and cello.

The ceramic works were made between 2017 and 2022, in the Ernan&Pacetti workshop and in the Raku workshop of Guido Garbarino (Albisola, Italy).
