“It’s about the line” (Transfert 01026 Duna), 1993 – 2021, Véronique Bourgoin, Juli Susin,

In 1993, in Budapest, the artists Juli Susin and Véronique Bourgoin made an installation in the Folyamat Water Level Instrumentation Building, which was transformed into a gallery by the experimental film director Gabor Csaszaeri. The device placed in a cast-iron cab, equipped with a transmission system connected to a float on the river surface and connected to a mechanical arm attached to a rotating cylinder, recorded all the amplitudes of the water risings by tracing them for 30 days on the millimetre paper wrapped on the cylinder. Over the course of the month of the installation, a line oriented by the variations of the water level of the Danube is traced on the photographic print, made on the original millimetre paper – numbered 01026-Duna – coated with the photosensitive emulsion, which was visible behind the window, on the rotating cylinder. The three photographs documenting this experiment are complemented by photograms, both printed by Véronique Bourgoin in 2019 from her drawings of women scientists portraits, accompanied by a digital distortion exacting the vectorial derivation of one of the photograms at time of temporal transfer. The edition of 5 copies “It’s about the line” (Transfer 01026 Duna), consists of six images printed on brushed aluminum Dibon.
