The book brings together 28 original photographs taken by Lucia Sotnikova in her hometown of Volgograd in Southern Russia, mounted onto existing pages from the book “Architecture der Deutsche Renaissance”. This photographic montage introduces a kind of diversion in the ritual of cataloguing architectural imagery, sabotaging any sentimental or objective aspects, like the return of repressed memories in an “amnesic hotel”.
